GotNext LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the GotNext Bot Discord bot and the bot.gotnext.gg website (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

By using the GotNext Bot or the bot.gotnext.gg website, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Discord Account Information

When you log in to the web dashboard or interact with the GotNext Bot, we collect:

• Discord user ID
• Discord username and display name
• Discord avatar URL
• List of Discord servers (guilds) you administer (for the dashboard only)

We authenticate via Discord OAuth2 and only request the identify and guilds scopes. We do not read your Discord messages, friends list, or join servers on your behalf.

Competitive Data

When you use the bot's competitive matchmaking features, we collect:

• ELO rating, peak rating, and rating history
• Match results (wins, losses, MVPs)
• Queue join/leave activity
• Season statistics and leaderboard standings
• Ban status and ban history (if applicable)

Server Configuration Data

When a server administrator links their Discord server, we store:

• Guild ID, name, and icon URL
• Queue configurations (channel, team size, mode, ELO settings)
• Permission settings (which roles can use admin commands)
• ELO tier configurations and Discord role mappings
• Season settings (duration, reset type, summary channel)
• LFG settings (expiry, max group size, allowed games)

Automatically Collected Information

When you access the web dashboard, we automatically collect:

• IP address
• Browser type and User-Agent string
• Pages visited and features used
• Login timestamps

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Authenticate you via Discord OAuth2
• Provide ELO-based matchmaking and ranked queue functionality
• Calculate and display leaderboards and player statistics
• Manage seasons, ELO resets, and tier role assignments
• Update Discord nicknames to display ELO ratings (when configured)
• Assign and remove Discord roles based on ELO tier
• Facilitate LFG (Looking for Group) posts
• Allow server administrators to manage queues and players via the web dashboard
• Detect and prevent abuse (multi-accounting, match fixing, queue manipulation)
• Improve and optimize our Service

3. Discord Bot Data

The GotNext Bot operates in Discord servers where it has been invited by a server administrator. This section describes how the Bot handles data.

What the Bot Accesses

When the Bot is present in a Discord server, it can access guild membership information, user IDs, usernames, nicknames, and roles of members in that server. This access is limited to what Discord's API provides to bots with the granted permissions.

What the Bot Stores

• Player registrations: Discord user ID, username, ELO rating, match history, and season statistics
• Server configuration: Guild ID, queue settings, ELO tiers, permission assignments, and season settings
• Match records: Team compositions, match outcomes, ELO changes, and MVP awards
• LFG posts: Game title, group size, description, and expiry (auto-deleted when expired)
• Ban records: Banned player IDs, ban reasons, and ban durations

What the Bot Does NOT Store

• Message content from Discord channels
• Voice chat audio or recordings
• Direct message content
• Your Discord password or authentication tokens

Slash Command Usage

Slash command interactions are processed in real-time and are not logged beyond standard server operation logs.

Nickname Updates

The Bot may update your Discord nickname to display your ELO rating in the format [1350] YourName. This requires the Bot's role to be higher than your highest role in the server. Server owners' nicknames cannot be changed by any bot (Discord limitation).

4. Public Information

The following information is publicly visible:

• Public leaderboards: Username, ELO rating, peak rating, wins, losses, win rate, and rank tier — visible at bot.gotnext.gg/leaderboard/<guild-id>
• Queue status: Number of players in queue (individual names may be hidden if the server admin enables hidden queue mode)

We share your information with the following third-party services:

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests by public authorities.

6. Cookies and Tracking

Essential Cookies

• Session authentication (HTTP-only, secure)
• Discord OAuth2 state tokens

Analytics

• PostHog analytics (respects browser Do Not Track settings)

Local Storage

We use browser local storage for theme preference and analytics session data.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including:

• HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
• HTTP-only cookies to prevent cross-site scripting attacks
• Discord OAuth2 for authentication (no passwords stored)
• Database access restricted to application services only

While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your data. Server administrators can use /remove-player to remove individual player registrations. For full data deletion, contact us.
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format

California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to request deletion.

9. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as it is needed to provide the Service:

• Player data (ELO, match history, statistics) is retained as long as the server uses the bot. Server admins can remove individual players using /remove-player.
• Server configuration is retained until the bot is removed from the server or the server admin requests deletion.
• Season archives are retained for leaderboard history. Past season data may be deleted upon request.
• LFG posts are automatically deleted when they expire.

If the bot is removed from a Discord server, the server's data remains in our database in case the bot is re-added. To request permanent deletion of server data, contact us.

10. Children's Privacy

The GotNext Bot is not intended for children under 13 years of age, consistent with Discord's own minimum age requirement. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at brock@gotnext.gg, and we will delete such information.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
